On the western banks of the Waikato River, Hamilton Central houses the principal business district of Hamilton. Besides the commercial buildings, there are lively restaurants and bars here and the pedestrian shopping area Garden Place, plus a range of striking heritage buildings, such as St. Peter’s Cathedral and the unusual Waikato Museum.
