Franz Josef, West Coast, New Zealand
New Zealand is one of the few countries in the world where you can view those great relics of the ice age - glaciers. The finest examples are the Franz Joseph and Fox glaciers located in the Westland region. These rivers of ice flow down almost to sea level.
For a rare glacier experience, you can walk through the valley to the Franz Josef and Fox Glacier terminal faces, or you can take a guided walk on the ice.
