Paihia Guide

Paihia

Known as the Jewel of the Bay of Islands, Paihia is a charming seaside town located on New Zealand's north-east coast. There's plenty to explore and great local hospitality to make you feel welcome.

Eating

Marsden Road and the Selwyn Mall are home to some of Paihia's favourite eateries. You can mingle with the locals at a bustling cafe or pizzeria or take in brilliant bay views while sampling the very best native cuisine at one of the town's upscale restaurants that caters to the tourist crowds. There are plenty of cosy bars and late-night takeaways too.

The Great Outdoors

After indulging in some of Paihia's local delicacies, there's no better way to burn off those extra calories than one of the area's lovely scenic walks. Several trails are available for you to explore and are suitable for most fitness levels - even young children. Paihia View Point, Harrison's Bush Reserve, the historic Maori settlement at Waitangi, and Haruru Falls are some of the most popular trails.

Paihia Hotels and Accommodation

There's a surprising variety of accommodation in Paihia, from friendly B & B's and cheap and cheery backpackers to spacious holiday homes and oceanfront resorts. You're sure to find just the right place for your needs and budget.
